Think Boise First: Small Business Development

Small Business Development

Think Boise First was established in 2008 as a network for locally owned and independently operated businesses to raise the level of awareness and educate community members on the economic impact of procuring local goods and services.

Shift Strategies designed, catalyzed and directed the network for the first five years facilitating steering committee formation and meetings, developing the board of directors, designing programming, attracting funding, directing outreach, and designing and managing marketing campaigns.

Shift Strategies Founder Beth Geagan also served as Affiliate Faculty for Boise State University’s Environmental Studies program and guided the development and implementation of the Sustainable Business Leader Program. The program engaged five local businesses to assess sustainable practices and develop implementation recommendations.

“As a local business-owner, I appreciate Beth’s vision and passion as the founder and catalyst behind Think Boise First.  She designed, organized, facilitated and raised the level of community awareness about the importance of sourcing local products and services.  Beth helped Boise’s network gain national recognition and laid a critical foundation that, almost 10 years later, is broadly understood for its significance.”Jane Naillon / Founder and Owner / See Jane
